Over the last six years of my business, a very high percentage of people have succeeded. The only time I've had two people start through my process and not complete it was very early in my business. One client was too stubborn to listen to what I told him, and I can show you the data comparing clients who listened and those who didn't. Another one freaked out, and to this day, this competitor who worked with me is doing a lot better than he is on LinkedIn.

Otherwise, every person that I have let into my system has achieved what we set out to achieve on our initial call. I do that by actively checking off things that you have on your list throughout our work together, and I'll show you at the end that we've done everything that I said that I can help you do. The clients that I've said yes to have stuck with the work, and it's not work that is atrocious like old elementary school homework, but it's the work that we figure out in terms of how their life is scheduled, what they're willing to do, what they're willing not to do, and the ups and downs of life. I had a client recently say, "Oh my gosh, my week is super stressful," and I found a different way that she can make progress this week instead of having to do a whole big piece of content.

The way that I work with my clients is, first off, I have to see if we're a good fit for each other. So we get in a call, and...Read More

I think it's funny when some medical professionals assume I'm not doing anything for my physical health because of my curves. Not true. Size does not always indicate the health of someone's body.

So with that, let me tell you a little bit about what I have been doing to keep this thing going.

First shout out goes to Planet Fitness for having free personal training included with my membership. For the first three years, if there was a personal trainer on staff, you could book them anytime during business hours when the trainer was on site. Sometimes it was just me and sometimes there were a couple other people. This not only helped keep me accountable because when I have human pressures, I do the thing, but it also helped me make some new friends in my neighborhood. It was absolutely fantastic.

I started by just doing roughly two days a week with this trainer and roughly just two hours total of fitness. If I wasn't at the gym, I tried to do something else instead. And I kept that going for a very long time. The only way I started doing that was being comfortable with being at the gym. I do not love the gym, but I do love when people encourage me. While at that gym, I had three incredible trainers who all changed my life in different ways while they were there. It was absolutely...Read More

Don't hire a marketing agency off the bat

You might not need an agency right away, or at least you should consider other options before committing to one. If you're not a big spender, you may end up with the least experienced help from the agency. However, agencies do offer the latest knowledge in social media and marketing, and they work hard to deliver on their promises. They handle everything, so you don't have to worry about the details.

Some people I've worked with have simply handed off their marketing to an agency without much thought. While the agency is likely to do a decent job, it's a missed opportunity if you don't share your knowledge about your business, your ideal client, and where to find them online. By bridging what you know about your business with the agency's efforts, you'll see better results.

Many people struggle to communicate their business knowledge to the agency, and agencies may not always understand an old-school business mindset. It's crucial to integrate the stories from sales and marketing with the demographic you serve into your marketing strategy. It's also important to ensure your content is seen by your target audience, which isn't always straightforward.

I enjoy helping clients understand how traditional business approaches and strong referral networks can work with what an agency offers. When I guide a client who has a social media assistant, marketing assistant, admin, or even an agency, I know that the strategies we develop can be effectively implemented. People often think working with me will require a lot of effort, but it doesn't have to. If you don't effectively communicate your knowledge to your marketing team, you won't get the most value out of your marketing efforts. I act as a mediator, helping to...Read More

VIDEO: Why YOU Need to Prioritize Your LinkedIn

Today, our topic is helping you get the most out of LinkedIn and telling you why you should prioritize this channel and what good it has for you, whether you're a business owner, or you're someone looking for a job, it is the way that people are going to see you. It's how people are going to vet you, it's how they're going to know you, if you're the right person for their job.

The first big thing that I want to shake into you, whether you're a business or a job seeker, is that your LinkedIn profile is where people are going to look. So if I'm meeting you at a networking event, and I want to know how legit this person is, I'm going to look at your profile to see what you have about yourself. The reality is, most people are extremely boring on LinkedIn, they don't share anything interesting or unique about themselves. (ie. I do real estate, I'm a mortgage broker, I do this) While that is great information, I have a million other choices of who I'm gonna call, I want to know that you understand me and my problem. You want to be interesting, you want to be special. So don't make yourself generic. I want to see stories about your past experiences. I want to know what gets you jazzed, what your passions are. You essentially have the opportunity to stack the deck with information that makes you look like the rock star that you are, and will make it easy for people to make connections with you to get to know you better.

Along those lines. The next big thing is that your LinkedIn profile is a bonus interview. You might not get to say how amazing you are in that 30 minute interview slot or that 30 minute sales presentation. However, your LinkedIn can fill the gaps for that person, it makes it super obvious what you're really good at so that when you do get on the phone they're not only curious to get to know you better, they're so excited to talk to you....Read More

VIDEO: Pre-Made Courses vs. 1 on 1 Coaching | Which is Better for You?

Ok, so hear me out because I DO NOT want to sound like I’m crapping on people who create courses because that’s not what I’m saying here!! Courses are a super great way to learn to do something new, but it can be impersonal. They teach you their strategy and what has worked for them, but that doesn’t always translate to your own personality. Sometimes, the basic information you get from a course is a perfect starting point for a new business owner - but then what to do with that information? When I get a client who has just taken a social media course, that’s typically where they’re at - the “what the hell do I do now?!” stage. And that’s because they got a bunch of great information but no guidance on how to cater it to their very special business!

I find that in a course, oftentimes, it’s like “here is the hack I found that worked for me and my learning style and now I’m going to sell that hack to you. Good luck.” In a 1-1 setting, like with a social media sherpa for example, you get the personalized knowledge from someone who knows what to do and how to implement it. Most importantly, you are given a personal approach to your marketing that is uniquely created for your business.

For example, if you’re like me, and you hate to write, then a social media course that teaches you the strategies to writing content won’t really be your jam and it might not be effective. Whereas if I am strategizing with you, I can help you figure out when you should outsource certain tasks and how to show your authentic self without the writing.

Courses are built around the skills of the person who makes it. The system will work, but sometimes there’s so many pieces in there and you may not be prepared to do all of it. That’s why the completion rate of a course - even if it's an amazing one - is only 20%. They don’t...Read More

I am scared to post on social media.

I was terrified to post on LinkedIn this past January. Audrey Boyle could tell you.

My nerves posting to my own Facebook changed after managing my first page due to unrealistic expectations for what is good enough.

Can you relate?

After years of managing social media accounts for others and coaching my own clients on their own marketing, this fear hasn’t changed.

I see social media as a mountain where I can scream out to my network whatever it is that I want. I see mediocre content out there that wastes an opportunity to share something worthwhile to the people watching.

That pressure to make something awesome is real, but I also think that pressure is what has helped me capture people on LinkedIn.
It took confidence, testing, and knowing I had something worth sharing to actually go out and post.My first major video post took me 16 hours to make but sparked a ton of conversations.
LinkedIn opened doors.

I am proud to have posted consistently once a month since December 2018.
But maybe I need to take the pressure off?
Is it all worth it?

YES.

Thank you for your support!

How to get people to listen to your podcast when you share on social media

Do you want to get more people to listen to your podcasts via social media promotion?
The tip I am about to reveal can actually be applied to any kind of social media promotion...What I see: People just share “hey look I am on a podcast” and that is fine. If I am obsessed with you I may decide to watch. But if I am an acquaintance, I may not know why I should click. Just knowing you isn’t enough.
What you should do: Make it obvious that what's inside is desirable to your audience. Give context to why your content is valuable.

The easiest hack is to write a minute by minute breakdown of what you talk about in the show. That way, instead of having to commit to the whole show, the listener can start with the part that most intrigues them.

Here is an example from a recent podcast I did:

:03 What lead me to teaching social media
:24 Will corporate social justice last?
:33 Your LinkedIn is your handshake. Are you ready?

You already have a clear taste about exactly what may be exciting for you to listen to in this full episode.

The first few impressions someone makes of that content will decide if they want to read on whether it be a graphic, a text post, or a video. Grab them while you can.
